CUSTOMIZED CROCHET SOLES - UPDATED!!

This is the method I use for crochet soles on all my one-piece slippers. Or socks.

The soles protect the slippers, make them warmer, sturdier, and extend their life-time.

Hemp-twine, 2 mm thick.

To achieve strong and durable soles, the bottoms are crocheted with normal hemp-twine. Packing-twine found in any hardware-store, supermarket, office-supplier, craft-store, post office, or online:
Search for twine>craft>supply
Other strong natural fibers: Jute, bast, or flax (linen).
Yarn: Achieve great soles with normal yarn too.
Yarn-weight Light/3, or Medium/4, should do.

This method is based on a copy of your foot, (or someone else’s), or any available standard foot-sizes.

GREAT NEWS FOR STANDARD FOOT-SIZES

 4 standard-sizes only! Out-Soles for Slippers

YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES: Work your soles according to the Any-size sole-method, or...

choose one of the standard sizes with instructions.
HOW TO USE THE OUT-SOLES
  • This sole-method is mostly used for one-piece slippers.
  • Continue for slippers on the round on top of edging.
  • Use the crochet-soles as out- and/or insoles.
  • For heavier and sturdier out-soles, work two soles together into one sole!
  • Insert handmade insoles, apply treatment to the soles, and you have turned your slippers into shoes for street-wear!

For street-wear I mostly use the heavier Cord-Sole method

But as you’ll see, also crochet soles can be worn on the street!
